Lecture Notes: Get latest version (revised 5 Dec 09)
The latest version has all figures reconverted to pdf so that the entire file should now be viewable in Acrobat Reader in printable on most printers. The figures on pages 92, 93, 94, 113, 166, 171, 172, 173, 175, 176, 177, 178 and 183 were previously were in an incompatible version of PDF and have been fixed. All pages on in earlier versions are still viewable using the Evince Document Reader. (Thanks to George Hrabovsky for pointing this out.)
The lecture notes are incomplete and will be posted as a growing document with changes & corrections as the semester progresses. The most serious errors will be posted here.
The fonts, border sizes and column parameters have been changed on the 4 April version, so the pagination is substantially different. The chapter numbers are all different by 1.
If you have a version of the notes that posted prior to March 18 there are several places in the section on quadrilaterals (section 32) where it implies that a Lambert Quadrilateral is a special case of a Saccheri Quadrilateral. This is only true in Euclidean geometry (where they are both actually rectangles), but not in Neutral geometry. This has been corrected in the more recent versions.
Note: if you have a version of the notes that was posted prior to March 9 the definitions of the Hyperbolic and Elliptic parallel postulates in section 14 (axioms 14.7/14.8) were interchanged. The definition in sections 13 and 23 are correct! Just to be clear, here are the correct definitions: For every line l and for every point P not in l:
